Parent Centers

There are nearly 100 Parent Training and Information Centers (PTIs) and Community Parent Resource Centers (CPRCs) in the US and Territories

  • Working with families of infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities, birth to 26
  • Helping parents participate effectively in their children’s education and development
  • Partnering with professionals and policy makers to improve outcomes for all children with disabilities[1]

Parent Training and Information Center (PTI):

  • Resource center for parents of children with disabilities.
  • Every state has at least one PTI.
  • The PTI in New Mexico is Parents Reaching Out

Community Parent Resource Center (CPRC):

  • Resource center for parents of children with disabilities.
  • Not every state has a CPRC.
  • Focus on reaching underserved parents of children with disabilities (e.g. Native American parents living in New Mexico).
  • The CPRC in New Mexico is Education for Parents of Indian Children with Special Needs.

PTIs and CPRCs are funded through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
